FAQ

  • Utilizing a birth doula can help you combat feeling unsupported, helpless, or unheard. Studies have shown that doula-assisted births have higher rates of positive birth outcomes. A birth doula will provide continuous support in the room with you, whereas healthcare providers like nurses have other patients and administrative tasks to attend to. A birth doula ensures that even at your most vulnerable, you will have a dedicated person supporting you.

  • A document that serves as a plan of action with the client’s preferred treatment during their labor and delivery. Includes topics and preferences such as but not limited to: pain management, fetal monitoring, internal exams during labor, skin-to-skin contact, inducing labor, episiotomy, medical interventions, vaginal delivery, cesarean, birthing position, and more.

I can help you create a birth plan from scratch, or I can help you review and finalize your draft of a birth plan.

  • Before a scheduled prenatal or postpartum visit, I will send you a brief survey that will help outline our session. Each person’s session will be unique to their circumstances. Generally a prenatal visit involves delving into your birth plan and practicing any routines you’d like to establish for labor. This can include practicing breathing techniques, practicing labor positions, and practicing effective communication. Generally a postpartum visit will be a check in to proactively support you with identifying and addressing concerns you have.

  • The options are endless. You can combine different services that I offer to create a completely unique package. The initial free consultation often acts as a discovery session. This open space allows for you to freely share your goals and ideas. Through this collaborative effort we will work together to design a plan that meets your established needs.

  • All of my clients have access to a listening ear day and night. This allows you to reach out for guidance, clarification, or support as needed, ensuring that you feel supported and empowered throughout your journey.

The resources I offer include detailed information on the birthing process, pain management techniques, medications you may encounter in a hospital setting, the different stages of labor, labor and delivery positions, comfort measures, feeding methods, and a dictionary of medical terms you may encounter.

I am happy to make referrals and offer additional resources that may best fit your needs.

  • A doula is a non-clinical, non-medical role. Doulas cannot take vitals, cannot perform cervical exams, cannot monitor fetal heartbeats, cannot diagnose, or medically treat their clients. A doula can provide information and assist you while you make a decision, but will not make any decisions for you. A doula will not speak for you, but rather advocate alongside your voice to make sure your wants and needs are being met. A doula can support you physically, mentally, and emotionally to help ensure you receive the care you deserve for a positive birth experience.

  • Client Portal hosts all resources for you to access. These include presentations on: Labor & Birth Positions, Pain Management, Breathing Techniques, Medications, Hormones, Interventions, Medical Terminology, and Feeding Methods. All of these resources are informational in nature and can help you make informed decisions.

  • Each payment plan is created after you decide on your ideal support package. The monthly amount will vary from package to package and from person to person. I will work with you to make my services accessible. Please email me at contact@lovedoulabirths.com if you would like to discuss a payment plan for any of my services. I also offer free consultations so you can book an appointment and we can talk about your options.

  • To ensure the maximum amount of support, I am available to attend prenatal or postpartum check-up appointments with you. This is great for one off support as needed. Please contact me to inquire further about this service.

**Photography services are also available. Please contact me if you are interested.
